because sometimes, when things get difficult, denial is all we have. a fragile blockade shielding our ears, our eyes, our mouths. a layer of dried tears, searing pain and anger, and a dark melancholy that gnaws at the loose ends of our souls; the fire ants in the tropical forests of our minds. unt we are but the ordinary; hollow vessels, overflowing with emptiness and it to the brim in a perpetual vacuum. we seal ourselves away from the universe, shielding our eyes from the horrors of the ‘outside’, because sometimes, denial is important. sometimes, one needs to forget the horrors, and simply exist in a universe of their own.
